Atticus Finch from Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird"

I choose him because he is an honest man living in troubled times. He is a widower with two young children, working as a lawyer in a small southern town. He does the best he can by both his kids. He is not hypocritical, he is honest, and brave. He took on a case for a man who under those circumstances was doomed no matter what, and fought hard to prove his innocence. He faced his friends and colleagues just to help a poor black man accused of assault on a young white woman. He was a rebel in his own way and I admire that about him.
